Gang involved in oil stealing busted in Haryana

With the arrest of nine persons, Haryana police today claimed to have busted a gang allegedly planning to steal oil from Hindustan Petroleum pipeline at Bahadurgarh near here.
Acting on a tip-off, nine persons from village Sakhaul who were planning to steal oil from the pipeline at Bahadurgarh were nabbed, a spokesman of police said today.
Police also recovered weapons including two country-made pistols, live cartridges, three cars and two motor bikes from the possession of accused, he said.
The gang has so far stolen about 80,000 litres of oil, police claimed.
Accused were identified as Dinesh Rathi, gang leader and resident of Sakhaul, Manjit, Manoj, Neeraj, Vikram, Anil, residents of Behrana, Ravi and Sandeep, residents of Bhiwani and Harish, a resident of Sonepat, police said.
About 20 cases of loot, dacoity, possession of illegal weapons and committing violence were already registered against the main accused Dinesh, he said.
Police said Dinesh made huge sum of money from stealing oil. With ill-gotten money, he was able to pay off his Rs 15 lakh debt, besides purchasing two cars and two tractors. He had even donated one kg of silver ornament known as 'chatra' at Shri Sheetla Mata Mandir in Gurgaon and another such silver ornament at Shri Mata Jwala Ji, the spokesperson said.
He said that the accused would be taken on remand after being producing in the court.
