The gang used to steal cattle from public places and transport them to their hideouts after sedating them with injection and later slaughter them, they said.
The arrests were made late last night on the basis of a tip-off that some gang members were coming towards Masuri area here, a senior police officer said.
"Acting on tip-off, police laid a trap and arrested four accused though eight of their accomplices managed to escape," he said, adding a country-made pistol and three knives were recovered from them.
