A portion of the floor of the house became very hot in the morning and when it was dug, the gas came out, said Asabuddin Shaikh, owner of the house.
Shaikh informed the police and district administration, but they said they do not have the infrastructure to deal with such a case.
Shaikh's wife felt that the floor before the staircase was very hot and informed her husband.
"We dug about one and a half feet of the hot floor and some gas came out. It was smelling like burnt clay," Shaikh said.
The local BDO Sudipta Bhattacharya said he had relayed the matter to the SDO Krishnagar (Sadar) Maitreyee Ganguly.
Ganguly said the district administration is not equipped to deal with such a case.
