Gauhati HC stays no confidence against Karbi Council CEM

Gauhati High Court today stayed the no confidence motion against Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Joyram Engleng and issued notices to the respondents.
A special session of the Council was summoned on October 15 and on that day 20 members passed a no confidence motion against Engleng and elected Tuliram Ronghang as their Chief Executive Member.
Subsequently, Engleng filed a petition in the Gauhati High Court challenging the no confidence motion against him.
Justice Ujjal Bhuyan after hearing the petition, stayed the notification issued for holding the special session and the subsequent actions.
Justice Bhuyan issued notices to the respondents and directed Engleng to move a confidence motion on November 15 next, on the first day fixed for the next general session of the Council.
The case was fixed for further hearing on December six next.
