The award carries a cash prize of Rs 25,000 and a plaque, a release from Jimmy George Foundation said here today.
The award committee headed by Jose George and comprising Rober Bobby George, Joby Joseph, T Devaprasad and Sebastian George chose the winner.
Geethu had captained India in the Asian Basketball Championship held at Chennai in 2009 and is the first professional basketball player from India.
She had played in the Australian League during 2006-08 season and represented India in the Melbourne Commonwealth Games in 2006 and Guangzhou Asian Game in 2010.
Representing Indian Railways, the team had won the National Championship ten times from 2003-2013, it said.
The award will be presented on November 30, the release said.
Former winners include Olympian P T Usha, Shiny wilson, Cyril C Vallor (volleyball), C V Pappachan and I M Vijayan (football), George Thomas (Badminton), K M Beenamol and Bobby Aloysius (Athletics).
