"The sector has its importance as it contributes 15 per cent of total exports from India. Rajasthan alone exports Rs 1,000 crore worth of gems and jewellery and thus is a significant player in this sector," Raje said while addressing the opening ceremony of Jewellers Association Show.
She asked designers to design jewellery keeping in view the choice of youngsters.
The Chief Minister said Jaipur has become the hub of not only coloured gem stones but also of jewellery.
"The gems business in the state is over three centuries old. The meticulous and intricate workmanship has earned artisans laurels from corners of the world," Raje said.
Union Minister of State for Finance Arjun Ram Meghwal, Industry Minister Gajendra Khinvsar and others were present at the function.
