CPI-M Genaral Secretary Sitaram Yechury, while addressing a convention against communalism here, further alleged that the BJP, "actually run by the RSS", was now trying to fulfill its vision of creating a "Hindu State" and trying to "unify all Hindu forces on the basis of hatred against Muslims."
"Love jihad, ghar wapsi, gau raksha are all parts of the planned communal design to consolidate Hindu vote banks devised with Narendra Modi's assumption of power at the Centre," he said.
"BJP is the political arm of the RSS", he alleged.
"Ministers or the MPs often speak on communal lines in Parliament. I asked the Prime Minister if he intended to take action against them as their speeches were against the spirit of the Indian Constitution because it proclaims that the country is a secular democratic republic. I am yet to get the answer", he said.
Yechuri further alleged that during Modi's regime Indian "mythology was replacing the history" and there was a "systematic plan" for "distorting history" to change the education system.
Criticising Shiv Sena for forcing to stop noted Pakistani ghazal singer Ghulam Ali's programme in Maharashtra, he said, the same thing happened in 2003 and it was repeated this time. "It is unfortunate", he said.
He said that the members of Sahitya Akademi and writers who won Akademi prizes have very strongly protested against the brutal killing of secular writers and activists.
"It is a battle between writers and rioters. We respect the writers, who dared to show their courage", he added.
Yechuri also condemned attacks on people in different parts of the country on the grounds of slaughtering of cows and beef-eating.
