Former premier Yousuf Raza Gilani has said he will not appear before Pakistani investigation agencies probing graft allegations against him as the cases are politically motivated and investigators are harassing him.
Gilani alleged that both the National Accountability Bureau and the Federal Investigation Agency are harassing him on behalf of someone.
The organisations are probing allegations of irregularities in organising the Haj pilgrimage and in the appointment of the head of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority.
"Enough is enough. As I have done nothing wrong, the NAB and FIA should arrest me instead of summoning me (for questioning)," Gilani said.
Talking to reporters here yesterday, the senior Pakistan People's Party leader said: "I have sent a written reply to the NAB and FIA in both cases, and if they are not satisfied they should arrest me.
"I had followed the laid down procedure in the appointment of Haj Director General Rao Shakil and OGRA chairman Tauqeer Sadiq. If they are involved in corruption, they should be investigated, not the person who appointed them."
Gilani is not happy at the treatment meted to a former Prime Minister.
"This can happen only to a former Prime Minister of the PPP. Being a premier, I have immunity and the investigators should read the law in this regard," he said.
He vowed to defend himself against such plots.
Gilani was forced to resign after the Supreme Court convicted him of contempt of court for refusing to reopen graft cases against President Asif Ali Zardari.
