Girl student ends life over harassment

A 20-year-old girl student allegedly committed suicide after being harassed by a youth in Shamli district, police said today.
The victim, Chavi, was found hanging from the ceiling fan at her house yesterday, SHO Sunil Dutt said.
According to the complaint lodged by the victim's father Sumesh Pal, Chavi was molested and assaulted by Adesh Sharma when she objected to his advances, he said.
A case has been registered against the accused who is absconding, police said, adding that the body has been sent for postmortem.
In a separate incident, a married woman in Ghasoli village was allegedly beaten up at her house by four persons, who attempted to molest her.

As per the complaint lodged by the woman's husband, the accused assaulted his wife after forcibly entering their house in an attempt to harass her in his absence yesterday, SHO Anuradha Singhal said.
The accused Farman, Rabban, Kalu and Ghosu are absconding, she said.
