Actress Madhuri Dixit is elated to play a strong, no nonsense character in her upcoming film "Gulab Gang".
The film will see Madhuri's return to a full-fledged role after a gap of almost six years. She was last seen in an item song with Ranbir Kapoor in "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani".
"I am happy that I am a part of a film which doesn't portray women as avenger or victim anymore. It's quite a strong film and when Soumik Sen (director) narrated me the script, I could not say no to him as I really liked the script. Female are protagonists in the film," said Madhuri, who is promoting the film here in IIFA.
Madhuri will be seen acting with Juhi Chawla, her yesteryear competitor, for the first time.
"Juhi and I really gel well. She is a brilliant actress and we are playing two opposite characters in the film. We have shared many scenes together and even discussed about kids and family after work," said the mother of two.
In the film, Madhuri will be seen in the avatar of an aggressive woman.
"You will see a completely different side of me. I am playing an aggressive woman here. She is tough. This film gave me a chance to do some stunts too," she added.
The actress will make her debut in IIFA with a performance tonight.
Apart from "Gulab Gang", the 46-year-old star is also starring in "Dedh Ishqiya" opposite Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi.
