Actress Glenn Close is in final negotiation to land a major role in "Guardians of the Galaxy".
The 'Albert Nobbs' star is expected to portray the head the Nova Corps in the James Gunn project, which also stars Zoe Saldana and Chris Pratt.
While director James Gunn likely gets 66-year-old Close attached to his film, John C Reilly still considers Gunn's offer.
As previously reported, the "Wreck-It-Ralph" actor has been approached to play Rhomann Dey. A former leader of the Nova Corps in the comics, the role in the feature is more of a human liaison for the Guardians.
The studio reportedly also prepares another agent who will help Dey along the way, with Hugh Laurie, Alan Rickman and Ken Watanabe as the contenders for the role.
Pratt will headline the sci-fi flick as Star-Lord and Saldana co-stars in it as Gamora. Joining them are Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Michael Rooker as Zatoan-tribe Yondu and Lee Pace, who is predicted to take on the role of Ronan the Accuser.
Actors to portray giant tree-man Groot and talking raccoon Rocket are not cast yet. Starting production in late June in London, "Guardians of the Galaxy" is scheduled to hit theaters nationwide on August 1 2014.
