Global food festival in line with Modi's vision: Irani

Union minister Smriti Zubin Irani said today that the mega global food festival, to be held here from November 3 to 5, was in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of "transforming" food economy and doubling farmers' income.
The information and broadcasting minister said the World Food India, 2017, will enhance business opportunities for women entrepreneurs, among others, and establish India as a preferred destination in food processing sector.
She also extended her wishes to the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI).
"My best wishes to @MOFPI_GOI for #WorldFoodIndia which is in line with Hon PM's vision of transforming food economy, doubling farmer income," Irani said in a tweet.
More than 40 countries and 27 states governments are participating in the exhibition, being organised in association with industry body CII.
Earlier, addressing a curtain raiser event, Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal said private investments worth Rs 65,000 crore have already been committed in the food processing sector and more is expected during the event.
In a series of tweets, Irani said, "Tremendous efforts by @HarsimratBadal_ ji in bringing Global Food Titans on a single platform at #WorldFoodIndia between 3-5 Nov in Delhi.
"#WorldFoodIndia exhibition focusing on Farmer Producer Organisations & Women Entrepreneurs will enhance business opportunities for them."
"'Food Street' concept at #WorldFoodIndia will put forth Indias traditional flavours with a global twist - giving guests a unique experience," she said in another tweet.
