GMR group-run GMR Aviation Academy is in the process of introducing cabin crew and hospitality management courses as it seeks to spread its wings in the fast-growing aviation training segment.
Established in 2009, the state-of-the-art GMR Aviation Academy currently imparts training programmes in various areas of aviation through its facilities at Hyderabad and Delhi Airports.
"We are in the process of launching cabin crew and hospitality management courses. We plan to introduce full- fledged one year courses in this segment," Academy sources said on the sidelines of a symposium on regional aviation training and 'TrainAir Plus' module, being convened by UN body, International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO).
Over 215 delegates from 44 countries are participating in the four-day long event which was inaugurated by Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju today.
Indian aviation market is one of the fastest growing markets in the world today and with demand for highly skilled aviation professionals including pilots, cabin crew and engineers is also growing, they said, adding, "We are keen to tap this potential."
GMR Aviation Academy would soon apply for the regulatory approvals soon, as "we aim to roll out these courses by the first quarter of the next year," sources said.
The GMR Aviation Academy conducts training programmes accredited by Airport Council International (ACI), International Air Transport Association (IATA), International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), and Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) of India with focus on Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa regions.
Over the years, it has emerged as a global gateway for aviation learning in India for not only GMR's own personnel; but also for the people of its peers and allied agencies in India and abroad.
