Both the teams played a positive game as they tried to gauge each other's strengths. Goa, who enjoyed more ball possession, surged ahead in the 30th minute through Niraj Parekh to have them leading 1-0 at half time.
Changing over they maintained possession and Aaron Barreto, who troubled the rival defense, then made sure that his team collected full points when he scored in the 77th minute.
In the other match played at Cuncolim ground, Chandigarh and Karnataka played out a 1-1 draw.
Karnataka replied after missing a couple of chances through Manish Bist.
