State sports minister Ramesh Tawadkar told the Assembly today that the state-run Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) has already informed GCA that they will withdraw its recognition until the entire managing committee, including some office bearers indicted by a judicial commission in the scam, vacate office.
Justice M B Pendse Commission probed the ticket scam during April 6, 2001 India-Australia match held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at Fatorda.
GCA president Vinod Phadke and former president Dayanand Narvekar were charged for allegedly entering into a criminal conspiracy with the ticket contractor, Chinmay Fallari, for the sale of tickets by manipulation in the tender for a consideration of Rs 68 lakh.
However, till date SAG has neither received any response towards the letter nor GCA has officially informed SAG about the election of the new managing committee, the minister added.
Tawadkar said, "SAG will now initiate the process of derecognising the association in accordance with law. So, the registrar of societies will also explore the possibility to initiate the process for deregistration of GCA as a society under the Societies Act.
