Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar today said the state's flagship Chief Minister's Rojgar Yojna (CMRY), which was launched in 2002, has so far produced 6,000 entrepreneurs.
"The CMRY, which was introduced by the then Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, has so far produced 6,000 new entrepreneurs. The scheme is implemented through state government's Economic Development Corporation (EDC). It has also shown 87 per cent recovery on the loan distributed to the beneficiaries," Parsekar told reporters here.
The Chief Minister said the benefits were provided to several thousand youths who are now able to give employment to others.
The state can't keep on creating jobs in the government sector, Parsekar said adding "the CMRY has given opportunity to the youths to be entrepreneur and provide jobs for others," he said.
The chief minister said his government has put a thrust on employment-creation with Investment Promotion Board (IPB) clearing 62 projects with total investment of Rs 5,231 crore and employment-generation capacity of 11,415 in the last one year.
Government's target is to bring in an investment of Rs 25,000 crore and employment generation of 50,000 over the next five years.
"IPB focuses on promoting environment-friendly and local employment generating industrial units," he said.
