Following passage of the anti- superstition Bill in Maharashtra Assembly, an organisation working towards fighting superstition will request the Goa government to implement a similar legislation in the coastal state.
Andhashraddha Nirmulan Samiti (ANS) leader Shyam Manav told reporters today in Goa that they will meet Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in next few days petitioning him to facilitate a Bill on par with the Maharashtra Legislation.
In December last year, Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and Other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Bill, 2013 was passed.
"I don't think that BJP will ideologically oppose this legislation as in Maharashtra, the parties like Shiv Sena have supported it," Manav said.
The ANS, which works towards fighting superstition, has decided to create a conducive atmosphere in favour of this legislation, which has been opposed by several right wing organisations.
The organisation will work towards having unanimity among all legislators, leaders and masses towards this legislation, he added.
