The case has been registered against national general secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha Acharya Madan under IPC Section 504 (insulting another person with intention to provoke breach of peace) and Section 505 (1) (making, publishing or circulating rumours) at the Brahampuri police station, SP (City) Om Prakash said.
According to the SP, on Wednesday, at the office of Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha on Sharda Road in Brahampuri area, it was announced that a "statue" of Godse will be placed on January 30 for the construction of a "temple" dedicated to him.
He had also claimed that Meerut will have the country's first "temple" dedicated to Nathuram Godse, the SP said.
The outfit had on Wednesday performed a ceremony here for construction of the "temple", following which the district administration had ordered a probe yesterday.
