Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today called for adopting naturonomics - a right blend of nature and economics for the state and in the entire north east to usher in a robust economy in the region.
"Youths of the state should embrace entrepreneurship for a self-reliant state through extensive use of science and technology for promoting trade and business of the region with the ASEAN countries," Gogoi said while inaugurating the Assam International Trade and Industrial Fair at Jorhat today.
The Chief Minister called for sustainable economic development with considerable emphasis on nature and said industrialisation should take place along with development of environment.
The state government would give adequate impetus to tea, bamboo, food processing and other agro-based industries to stimulate industrial growth of the state, Gogoi said hoping the event would facilitate people to people interaction and exchange of human resources between northeast and the ASEAN countries.
The Chief Minister also said participation of many foreign countries in the fair ensured exposure of the local youth, traders and entrepreneurs with their international counterparts, which would lead to generation of employment, entrepreneurship and goodwill.
U Kyaw Win, Myanmar's Minister of Electric and Industry, Sagaing Regional Government, Ambassador of Afghanistan to India Saida Mohd Abdali, Meghalaya's Minister of Health, Family Welfare and IT A L Hek and president India-Thai Chamber of Commerce, Bangkok Sushil Kumar Saraf also hoped the fair would usher in a mutually beneficial business climate in the ASEAN countries.
