Gold adds Rs 30 on seasonal demand; silver ends flat

Traders said a firm trend in global markets where gold rallied to a six-month high also influenced the sentiment here.

In London, gold rose 0.9 per cent to USD 1,746.90 an ounce.

Back home, gold of 99.9 and 99.5 per cent purity gained Rs 30 each to Rs 32,480 and Rs 32,280 per 10 grams, respectively. The metal had lost Rs 50 yesterday.

Sovereigns continued to be asked around previous level of Rs 25,500 per piece of eight grams.

Silver ready and weekly-based delivery held steady at Rs 61,500 and Rs 64,045 per kg, respectively.

Silver coins, however, spurted by Rs 1,000 to Rs 78,000 for buying and Rs 79,000 for selling of 100 pieces.
