Gold down Rs 142 on weak global cues

Metal for delivery in October shed Rs 135 or 0.52%

Gold fell by Rs 142 to Rs 26,090 per 10 grams in futures trade today amid a weak trend overseas and profit-booking by speculators.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in December eased by Rs 142 or 0.54 per cent to Rs 26,090 per 10 grams in a business turnover of nine lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in October shed Rs 135 or 0.52 per cent to Rs 25,879 per 10 grams in 451 lots.

Analysts said besides a weak trend in the overseas markets, profit-booking by participants, put pressure on gold prices in futures trade here.

In Singapore, gold lost 0.34 per cent to USD 1,121.70 an ounce today.
