It used 2D animation and depicted 'The Face of Climate Change'.
The visually appealing doodle greeted its users with fish in clear water pond, plants growing and the sun moving through the day. When one clicks on each of the two caves in the snow-capped mountains, a bear peeps out.
There is also a play button, clicking on which the doodles plays in a loop and changes from season to season and from day to night, as the sky changes from a clear blue with birds flying across to a dark one filled with umpteen stars.
The Earth Day Network aims at steadily building commitments by individuals, organisations, businesses and governments to protect the planet and its campaign 'A Billion Acts of Green' inspires and rewards both simple individual acts and larger organisational initiatives that reduce carbon emissions and support sustainability, the blog says.
It is promoting acts of green that people can register for -- actions they're taking to protect the environment and may vary from washing laundry in cold water and riding a bike instead of driving to planting a garden and volunteering with a community clean-up.
Every year on April 22, more than one billion people take part in Earth Day, according to the data provided on the website.
