Gopashtami celebrated at Mayapur

The ISKCON today celebrated Gopashtami at the Goshala in Mayapur in Nadia district amid the presence of around 6000 devotees from 30 countries.
The festival is considered in Gaudiya Viashnava community that it was on this day that Lord Krishna was given charge of cows whereas earlier he was tending the calves, a senior official of ISKCON Mayapur said.
Besides, on this day Lord Krishna rested the Govardhan hill back to its original position after holding it for seven days in Vrindavan.
More than 300 cows, calves, bulls were decorated with colourful bands and garlands and served by feeding them.
