The Karnataka government has asked both the management and the union of Toyota Kirloskar Motor to restore normalcy in operations, seeking to end an over month long stalemate between them.
"The government, in order to maintain industrial peace and harmony, has issued an order asking it and the union to restore normalcy in operations immediately," the company said in a statement issued here today.
All relevant issues between the workers and the management have been referred for adjudication. We thank all our stakeholders for their support and understanding during this difficult period," Toyota Kirloskar said.
The company's operations have been affected ever since the union demanded a wage hike of Rs 4,000 as against Rs 3,050 proposed by the management.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor, a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corp of Japan, had on March 16 declared a lockout, after talks between the management and union over wage negotiations failed.
Although the lockout was lifted on March 24, employees have not resumed work as they objected to signing a good conduct undertaking as demanded by the company and pressed for withdrawal of suspension orders.
