Governor appoints VCs in JP Uni & VKS Uni in Bihar

Bihar Governor-cum-Chancellor Ram Nath Kovind today appointed Vice-Chancellors (VC) in Jaya Prakash Narayan University, Chapra and Veer Kunwar Singh University, Ara in the state.
The Governor-cum-Chancellor appointed Prof. Harikesh Singh as VC of Jaya Prakash Narayan University, Chapra while Prof. Syed Mumtazuddin as VC of Veer Kunwar Singh University, Ara, an Information and Public Relations Department (IPRD) release said.
Using his powers under relevant sections of Bihar State University (Amendment) Act 1976, the Governor Kovind made the new appointments on the basis of recommendations of the 'search committees' of universities and subsequent 'meaningful and effective' consultation with the state government and personal interaction with shortlisted candidates.

The tenure of the newly appointed VCs would start from the day they assume the charge as Vice-Chancellor of the respective university, the release said.
