Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma today said the government is addressing cleanliness, connectivity and security to boost tourism.
Speaking at the plenary session on 'Why Invest in Incredible India?' at the Incredible India Tourism Investors' Summit here, the Minister also noted that this is the right time to invest in the tourism sector of the country.
The Minister of State for Tourism said the government is addressing cleanliness, connectivity and security to bolster tourism.
Among others, the Ministry has introduced a helpline in 12 languages for tourists and the new aviation policy would also give a huge fillip to air connectivity, he added.
Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore said films and advertisements can play a key role in popularising India.
To make filming in India easy, the Ministry has set up Film Facilitation Office as single window for all clearances and approvals. This should be replicated in the states, he added.
Tourism Secretary Vinod Zutshi said ease of doing business, the policy landscape, sector-specific parameters, and availability of finance would attract investors.
Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant noted that digitisation and urbanisation provide huge opportunities for tourism in India.
Industry body CII's President Naushad Forbes said industry and government need to work together to ensure greater tourist traffic into the country.
This can be achieved by changing perceptions through campaigns, word of mouth, and changing reality of tourist experience, he added.
