The decision was taken in the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"CCEA has approved six-laning of Aurangabad - Bihar/ Jharkhand Border - Barwa Adda section on NH 2 in Bihar and Jharkhand," an official said.
The widening of the national highway (NH) will be done at an estimated cost of Rs 4,918 crore.
The project is 222 kms long and will "improve infra" in Bihar and Jharkhand and will reduce time of travel, the official added.
