Govt gives approval for Sarangi to be chairman of Tea Board

Government today gave post-facto approval for Santosh Kumar Sarangi, a joint secretary in Commerce Ministry, as Chairman of Tea Board for a period of three months from June 30.
The approval was given by the Appointments Committee of Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today.
As per the order, Sarangi, a 1995 batch IAS officer of Odhisa cadre, will be holding the charge of Chairman of Tea Board till September 30 or till a regular appointment was made.
This charge will be in addition to his duties of being a Joint Secretary in the Department of Commerce.
In another order, B K Ravi, an IPS officer of 1989 batch of Tamil Nadu cadre, was today appointed as Adisor (Security) in the Indian Oil Corporation for a period of three years.
The ACC also cleared extension of P N Sukul, an Indian Defence Accounts Service officer of 1982 batch, as the Representative of India in the Canada-based Council of International Civil Aviation Organisation.
His tenure was approved till August 31 this year.
The ACC turned down two proposals which included extension of tenure of Mukhmeet Singh Bhatia, Joint Secretary in Finance Commission, beyond November 28 this year.
They also shot down a proposal of Jammu and Kashmir Government asking for early repatriation of Arun Kumar Mehta.
Mehta, an 1988 batch IAS officer from Jammu and Kashmir cadre, is at present posted as Principal Secretary in Power Development Corporation since 2012.
