Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi Tuesday said the state government may consider giving grant for producing Bhojpuri films in Bihar.

Bhojpuri film star Ravi Kishan met the deputy chief minister here and raised the issue of giving grant for producing Bhojpuri films on the lines of Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh governments.

"The state government may consider giving grant for producing Bhojpuri films in Bihar," Sushil Modi told Kishan.

Keeping in mind the requirement of film industry, the state government has identified 20 acres of land for construction of a film city at Rajgir, the DyCM said.

Kishan informed Modi, who is also state's Finance minister, that Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh governments give 30 and 40 per cent as grant of the total cost involved in the production of Bhojpuri film if it has been entirely shot in the state.

Among regional language films, around 80 to 90 films are produced in Bhojpuri language in a year and Bihar and UP constitute biggest viewers of Bhojpuri films, Kishan said.

He said there is good scope for producing Bhojpuri films in the state as there are plenty of good locations for carrying out shooting of films.
