Govt running away from discussion on bank scam: Congress

The Congress today accused the government of "conspiring" to not allow Parliament to function and is "sponsoring agitations" inside the Houses to stop the opposition from raising the issue of PNB-Nirav Modi scam.
Congress leaders in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge and Jyotiraditya Scindia alleged that the government is running away from a discussion on the bank scam in Parliament, saying it is a "big blot" on democracy.
Kharge said, "Ever since Parliament session started, we have been seeking an adjournment motion on the PNB Nirav Modi scam. We have been giving a notice everyday but the government does not wish to hold any discussion."

It is evident that the government wants to divert public attention by raising other issues. The various issues raised by other parties like the TDP, Cauvery issue are being raised so that the Congress does not raise the Nirav Modi issue, he said.
"The government is instrumental in organising disruption by raking up different issues through its own allies. All these are government-sponsored agitations. I want to say it openly. The government is running away from discussion and is accusing the opposition parties instead. This is a big blot on democracy," he alleged.
The two leaders also said the opposition parties have aired their grievance before Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and it is the duty of the government to ensure that the House runs.

"They are trying to end democracy and Parliament," Kharge said.
The two leaders also alleged that earlier Congress members were expelled so that the House runs but this time the Speaker loses no time in adjourning the House for the whole day over small issues.
