Govt's info disseminating officials likely to get smartphones

Soon officials looking after information dissemination of various ministries may get smartphone devices from the government as the Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry is considering such a proposal.
A senior official said that keeping in mind, the government's emphasis on social media, it has been felt that key officials like those in the Press Information Bureau (PIB) may be given smart devices, so that they can more effectively disseminate information.
"Such a proposal had been mooted earlier also but it could not fructify. However, there is a thinking in the ministry that by providing key officials with smart devices, the message of the government may be disseminated more effectively," said a senior official.

According to officials, the I&B is also planning a workshop in the coming future in which it would get a feedback from experts on the advertisements released by the government.
This feedback will be utilised to improve advertisements released in the future, a senior official said.
