Govt spent Rs 94 cr to promote folk, tribal arts since FY'09

The government has spent around Rs 94 crore since 2008-09 to promote folk and tribal arts of the country.
Rs 88.71 crore has been spent through Zonal Cultural Centres between 2008-09 and January 30 this year and the remaining Rs 5.27 crore has been routed through Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, Bhopal, Minister of Culture Chandresh Kumari Katoch said in the Rajya Sabha.
She said during Question Hour that Haryana has received the maximum fund of Rs 14.84 crore during the period while Jharkhand got the least at Rs 8.44 lakh.
Zonal Cultural Centres, which promote the folk and tribal arts of the country, have conducted a total of 501 programmes till January 31 of the 2012-13 fiscal.
These Centres had organised 1,178 programmes in 2011-12, 1,130 in 2010-11, 1,041 in 2009-10 and 916 in 2008-09.
Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, Bhopal, has conducted 103 programmes since 2008-09 including 16 till the end of January this year to promote folk and tribal arts.
