A senior ministry official today said that as the ministry reviews the functioning of the CBFC, it will also look at how ratings are given to movies in United States and other countries where such process is voluntary in nature.
Speaking to reporters, another senior official said that the Ministry favours a liberal creative environment but it is also conscious that there needs to be a framework so that films which can affect friendly relations with other nations or are against national interest are not allowed to be shown.
The official however added that the Ministry was looking at the entire process and not focussing on personalities.
Yesterday, Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley had said that "time has come" to have a re-look at its functioning.

Meanwhile, a senior ministry functionary also said that
from next year, the ministry has decided to change the dates for the international children's film festival.
The International Children's Film Festival is a biennial event which was held from 14-20 November, 2015. Its closing date had coincided with the opening date for the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), which was held in Goa.
