To push for inclusion of marginalised people in most backward villages of the country in welfare schemes, the Centre will launch 'Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan' on April 14, the birth anniversary of Dalit icon Bhim Rao Ambedkar, Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said today.

The Union Rural Development Minister said as part of this campaign, the Centre will reach out to the poor in the 21,000 most backward villages in the country and will make them aware about the government's all welfare schemes.

As part of this campaign, the government will set up camps in these villages to provide the poor benefits under various welfare schemes, he said.

"Under this campaign, the government will observe some days, starting from April 14, as social justice day. It will be followed by 'Swachh Bharat Diwas', 'Ujjwala Diwas', 'Panchayati Raj Diwas' and 'Gram Shakti Diwas' on April 18, 20, 24 and 28 respectively," Tomar told reporters here.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially launch the 'Gram Swaraj' campaign from Bijapur in Chhattisgarh, he said, adding the campaign is aimed at developing the most backward villages in the country.

The government will also observe 'Ayushman Bharat Diwas' on April 30, 'Kisan Kalyan Diwas' on May 2 and 'Aajevika Kaushal Diwas' on May 5.
