As per rules, all ministries and departments should be monitoring the performance of consultants so that the output of the consultancy is in line with the department's objectives.
A screening committee comprising Cabinet Secretary, Secretary-Department of Economic Affairs and Secretary of the concerned ministry has been constituted to examine proposals received from various departments desirous of engaging new consultants from bilateral partners or multilateral agencies or those who intend to extend the term of existing consultants, said Singh in a written reply in Lok Sabha.
