Actress Melanie Griffith is thrilled that her daughter Dakota Johnson has nabbed her first big role as Anastasia Steele in the film adaptation of E L James' erotic novel 'Fifty Shades of Grey'.
James announced Monday via Twitter that Johnson will play Steele opposite Charlie Hunnam, who will play Christian Grey in the BDSM-centric film, set to hit theaters next year, reported Huffington Post.
Griffith, who appeared nude in 1975's 'Night Moves', does not seem concerned about the risque nature of the role that her 23-year-old daughter would do.
"My beautiful child Dakota has been chosen to play Anna Steele in 50 Shades!!! Look out world! Here she comes!!! #proudmama," Griffith announced on Twitter.
Johnson has previously appeared in 'The Social Network', '21 Jump Street', 'The Five-Year Engagement' and 'The Office'.
Not everyone is happy with Hunnam and Johnson's casting as 'Fifty Shades of Grey' fans have launched an online petition on Change.Org demanding that producers replace Johnson and Hunnam with Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel.
