The incident happened at around 7.40 AM when the deceased, identified as Suman Kalyan Sarkhel (29), working with the GRP, Sealdah, was going to attend a football practice, they said.
"Sarkhel fell down when his bike skidded and a school bus ran over him near Mandirtala," they said.
Sarkhel, a resident of Jadavpur in the southern part of the city, was pronounced dead on arrival when taken to a nearby hospital, the police added.
