"Total number of GSM subscribers as of June 2014 stood at 739.57 million. The GSM subscribers increased by 6.48 million in June 2014, 0.88 per cent increased from previous month," Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) said in the report.
COAI, which represents telecom players, including Airtel, Vodafone, Uninor, said the data does not include GSM subscriber number of Reliance Communications and Tata Teleservices.
The association incorporates subscribers number of BSNL as revealed by telecom regulator TRAI.
Idea Cellular ranked third in terms on net addition with 12.9 lakh new customers, followed by telecom major Bharti Airtel which added 10.1 lakh new customers.
Subscriber base of Airtel in June reached 20.92 crore.
Aircel added 10 lakh, Videocon 1.4 lakh and state-run MTNL 10,000 new customers.
Uninor registered highest growth rate in subscriber base during reported month.
