The Gorkhaland Territorial Authority (GTA) today received names of four IAS officers from West Bengal government as an alternative to its present Principal Secretary Soumitra Mohan as per directive of Calcutta High Court.
"The GTA has received four names at Darjeeling from the government today itself," Gorkha Janmukti Morcha leader Roshan Giri told PTI over phone from Delhi.
The government has named Saidul Islam, Sukumar Ghorai, Kalipada Das and R D Meena, all senior IAS officers as alternative to Mohan as principal secretary of GTA.
GTA spokesman Binoy Tamang had moved the High Court seeking removal of Mohan and appointment of another senior IAS officer as the principal secretary.
The high court had last week directed the state to come with three names who may be alternative to Mohan, over whose appointment the GTA has been at loggerheads with the state government.
The state government's counsel, however, submitted before Justice Dipankar Dutta today that the names had not been sent by the government as yet and as such be granted time for submitting the names.
Justice Dutta directed the state to submit the names before the court on Wednesday next.
