Guargum spurted by Rs 170 to Rs 10,120 per quintal in future trade today as speculators widened their positions amidst rising demand at spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, guargum prices for most-active delivery in October contracts surged by Rs 170, or 1.71 per cent to Rs 10,120 per quintal, in an open interest of 18,931 lots.
Also, guargum for delivery in current month contracts gained Rs 140, or 1.49 per cent to Rs 9,550 per quintal and open interest stood of 1,702 lots.
Marketmen attributed rise in guargum futures to a firming trend at the spot market on rising demand against restricted supplies.
