Guj: Cong MLAs stage walkout from Guj Assembly

Congress MLAs today staged a walkout from the Gujarat Legislative Assembly here while accusing the BJP government of stonewalling their query on the issue of the law and order.
They also accused the government of applying "unfair tactics" to delay its reply on the question.
This is the second consecutive day in the ongoing Budget session where Congress members have staged a walkout.
They had walked out of the House yesterday as well on the issue of swine flu.
As soon as the session started with Question Hour today, for which the Speaker has alloted one hour, members of both the parties entered into a verbal spat when Ramesh Maheshwari of Congress sought to know about the vaccination of cattle in Kutch district.

Maheshwari's question was listed at no. 7 and he sought details on vaccination for past two years from Agriculture Minister Babu Bokhiria.

While Bokhiria was giving cattle-wise details, he was repeatedly interrupted by Congress MLAs who said such detailing is not needed.
Some of the MLAs even complained to Speaker Neemaben Acharya and requested her to stop the minister from wasting time on such unnecessary details and move to next question related to the law and order situation.
However, Bokhiria maintained that the details were sought by the Congress MLA.
Meanwhile, Kutch MLA Shaktisinh Gohil (Congress) got infuriated and alleged Bokhiria is deliberately taking more time so that the House could not discuss the question number eight as only five minutes were left before the Question Hour ended.

In written question number eight, Congress MLA from Ahmedabad, Gyasuddin Shaikh has sought details from the chief minister about the total number of cases related to murder, rape and other serious crimes recorded in Ahmedabad city during last one year.
He also wanted to know the detection ratio of these cases.
Gohil alleged that the government was purposefully wasting time on a less-important question so that it could save itself from discussing an important issue.
While Bokhiria continued reading, Gohil, Shaikh and 30 other Congress MLAs trooped into the Well of the House and announced walkout on that issue.
Before leaving, they also accused the Speaker of taking the side of BJP, and had heated exchange with MLAs from treasury benches.
