Four persons were arrested in Gujarat's Banaskantha district for allegedly printing and circulating fake currency notes, police said on Sunday.
The arrests of Jignesh Thakkar, Yusuf Saifuddin, Hasan Vora and Burhanuddin were made by Palanpur police's crime branch, an official said.
He said 274 fake notes of Rs 200 denomination with a face value of Rs 54,800 were seized from them.
"They used a colour printer. They would circulate the notes in the nearby markets. A man was arrested first in Dhanera area here with 16 fake Rs 200 notes. His interrogation led us to the other three," he said.
They were charged under section 489 (tampering with property mark with intent to cause injury) of the Indian Penal Code, he added.
