Guj: Five drown in two separate incidents

Five people, including two children, drowned today in separate incidents in Gujarat, the police said.

The incidents occurred in Ahmedabad city and Panchmahal district, they said.

Krishna Sisodiya (7) and Shiva Marwadi (9) drowned after they entered a pond to take bath in Odhav area in Ahmedabad, a police official said.

"The family members of the deceased said the boys had left their homes this morning, saying they were going to take bath in the pond. They drowned while taking bath," the official said.

He said the bodies of the boys were fished out with the help of fire department personnel.

Another incident occurred in Pavagadh in Panchmahal district, around 115 kms from here, police said.

The mishap occurred after three friends from Vadodara entered Vad lake in Pavagadh, a famous tourist spot, for a swim, a local police official said.

The deceased are identified as Tapan Shah (19), Vaibhav Mandavkar (21) and Gajmal Devra (57), he said.
