The Gujarat government will soon announce the drainage recycling policy to supply water to industrial units in the state, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said today.

"To fulfil the demand of industrial units for water, the state government will come up with a drainage recycling policy, which would be announced next month," a government release quoted Rupani as saying during the launch of "Sujalam Sufalam Jal Abhiyan" in Gir Somnath district.

Rupani said his government is committed to provide water for agriculture and industrial units and that the industrial units would get sufficient water under the proposed policy.

Besides, the state government is going to set up a Rs 500 crore desalination plant for the benefit of coastal towns in the state, he said.

The chief minister said the Sujalam Sufalam Jal Abhiyan is the country's biggest water conservation drive being launched by the state government.

Under the month-long campaign, to culminate on May 31, around 13,000 ponds and lakes in the state would be deepened.

Earlier in the day, the chief minister visited the famous Somnath temple and offered prayers for good monsoon in the state.
