An all-religion prayer meeting was held in Sabarmati Ashram here to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi today which was attended by state Governor O P Kohli and representatives of various faiths.
Kohli paid tribute to the 'Father of Nation' at the meeting which was held at 'Hridaykunj' in the Ashram and appealed to people to whole-heartedly join Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Swachh Bharat' mission.
"Modi's mission will fulfil Gandhiji's dream of a cleaner India and everyone should develop a habit of cleanliness in day-to-day life," Kohli was quoted as saying in an official press release.
On the occasion, Kohli released 'Gandhi Ashram Guide' which will be available on Ashram's website as well as on Android-enabled phones in the form of a map.
"The Governor also released a book in Gujarati-- "Vrutant Gandhiji ni Kalam' on Mahatma Gandhi, which is a compilation of Gandhiji's writings about various dignitaries," the release said.
The prayer and book release ceremony were attended by various religious leaders, students and trustees of Sabarmti Ashram.
The Ashram was one of the residences of Mahatma Gandhi who had lived there for about twelve years along with his wife Kasturba Gandhi during pre-Indpendence era.
