Heavy showers have lashed some districts in Gujarat, a government department said on Wednesday, adding that the state has so far received 93.54 per cent of the average rain this monsoon season.
In 24 hours ending 6 am on Wednesday, the Chhota Udepur taluka in that district received 182 mm rain, the highest in the state during this period, followed by Pavi Jetpur taluka getting 162 mm and Kwant 159 mm, as per data released by the state emergency operation centre.
Besides, Halol taluka in Panchmahal district received 159 mm rainfall, Vijapur taluka in Mehsana got 115 mm rain, while Mehsana taluka got 106 mm downpour, it said.
"As many as 187 out of 251 talukas of the state received rainfall during this period. With this, the state has so far received total 763.27 mm rainfall, or 93.54 per cent of the average annual rainfall at 810 mm," as per the data.
The state's south zone received the highest rainfall of the season at 107.02 per cent, followed by Kutch zone - 103.04 per cent, east central zone- 93.15 per cent and Saurashtra zone- 80.06 per cent, it revealed.
District-wise, Chhota Udepur recorded the highest rain of the season at 137.96 per cent, followed by Bharuch-136.11 per cent, Narmada-120.07 per cent, Surat- 110.05 per cent, Panchmahal-109.67 per cent and Tapi-101.6 per cent.
However, Devbhoomi Dwarka district received the lowest rainfall at 60.78 per cent, while Banaskantha got 65.62 per cent, Mahisagar - 65.75 per cent and Mehsana- 67.67 per cent.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains at some places in Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha districts on Wednesday, with heavy to very heavy showers likely in Surendranagar, Morbi and Kutch.
Besides, heavy rains are likely at isolated places in Banaskantha, Amreli, Bhavnagar and Kutch on Thursday, the IMD said.
