Senior Congress MLA from Abdasa in Kutch district, Shaktisinh Gohil, during his speech in the Gujarat Assembly on the motion to discuss the Governor's address, claimed that the Governor's speech did not have a single word about scarcity in Kutch due to rainfall deficit this year.
"This shows the utter indifference of this government towards scarcity-hit people of Kutch. It seems that this government does not have any sympathy for them. Though you have opened grass depots for cattle rearers, grass is not available in many depots," Gohil alleged.
Yesterday, replying to his question about what the government had done to provide water to these areas, the state government stated in a written reply that drinking water has been provided through 57 tankers.
In addition, the government also replied that 110 tankers would be operational in that area in the near future for around 150 villages, which have been classified as potentially scarcity-hit.
During his speech today, Gohil claimed that the Congress government which ruled Gujarat had done better than the BJP-led government and even took a dig at the ongoing Rann Utsav in Kutch.
