The announcement was made by Agriculture Minister R C Faldu in the Legislative Assembly here.
Faldu informed the House that the Centre has given approval to procure 1.28 lakh metric tonnes of tur from Gujarat farmers through central nodal agency the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (Nafed).
He said that it is expected that Gujarat's tur yield for this season would stand at around 3.14 lakh tonnes.
"For 2017-18, Centre has fixed an MSP of Rs 5,450 per quintal. In the first phase, Nafed would start the procurement of tur dal at MSP through 40 of its centres in 22 districts. The procurement would commence from March 12" Faldu said.
