Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has ordered action against two senior IAS officers after they were found guilty of irregularities in land allotment to industrial units.
An official release today didn't mention their names, but only said that one of them was additional chief secretary (ACS) in the Industries and Mines department, while the other was the managing director of Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) when the inquiry was ordered against them.
At the relevant time, Arvind Agrawal was ACS, Industries and Mines, while Manoj Aggarwal was the MD of GIDC.
After examining the inquiry report submitted by former state chief secretary Manjula Subramaniam in April, the chief minister ordered action against these two officers to set an example of administrative transparency and intolerance for such acts, said the release.
The report indicated that both the officers were involved in irregularities in allotment of GIDC land, it said.
The CM ordered a concerned senior officer to issue 'advisory note' to the then ACS, where he was advised to be more careful while dealing with policy matters in future, said the release.
In the case of the then MD of GIDC, the CM ordered a departmental inquiry, it said.
The matter pertained to the land alloted to two companies in Surat and Bharuch under the Central government's Integrated Textile Park scheme.
While Arvind Agrawal is now ACS in the Forests and Environment department, Manoj Aggarwal is Development Commissioner.
