A petition was filed before National Commission for Schedule Tribes and Reserve Bank of India against two banks operating from Jammu and Kashmir accusing them of ignoring candidates of Gujjar and Bakerwal communities for the post of Relationship Executives.
The petition was filed by Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation (TRCF), a frontal organisation of Gujjar and Bakerwals, against Jammu and Kashmir Bank (JKB) and J-K Grameen Bank alleging that they had failed to implement reservation laws for STs in recent recruitments, said secretary TRCF Dr Javaid Rahi.
The petition maintained that banks across the country provide reservation to SCs and STs in all type of recruitments excepting the two banks of Jammu and Kashmir.
As per laws of the state, other ST communities including Gujjars and Bakerwals are entitled to 10 percent reservation in recruitment and promotions in all government and autonomous bodies, but JKB and J-K Grameen Bank have violated the provisions, Dr Rahi alleged.
